Playmaker Rank

Playmaker Rank is an overall rating based on the action value model.

How does it work?

The player is awarded a rating for each game based on how good the player's performance was compared to other players in the same position, with data from a magnitude of historical games.
The player then gets a mean rating based on all the games in the dataset which is then converted to a star system.
All players in the dataset gets a star from 0.5-5.0.
Note that there doesn't need to be a player with a 5 star rating in all datasets, and there can also be more players on one position with a 5 star rating but no player with another position.

The more games you play the harder it also is to receive a high rating, just like in real football. It is easier to have a few top games than to have multiple during a season.
