Team of The Season - Premier League
PlaymakerAI has let it’s machine learning algorithm for player grades select the team of the season. The XI was selected based on an action value model that values players every action with and around the ball.
The actions are estimated based on a trained model on how much their action increases the teams odds of scoring as well as decreases the odds of conceding a goal. This statistic probability model makes it possible to value both offensive and defensive actions.
The XI is then based on the players mean grade for every game they have played this season, the script that selected the XI also found the best possible formation with the given players.
Let’s take a look at some player spiders…
First out Kevin De Bruyne with best overall grade of 82 out of 100 this season, which means a game average of 82. A highly remarkable standard. Kevin De Bruyne matches the avatar of the Creator (the wide playmaker), and his AI detected qualities can be found below.
Next let’s take a look at the two strikers. Both having similar avatar and qualities where they stand out the most compared too others in the league. Although one main difference is Harry Kane’s grade for chance creation where he contributes more in the chance creation part of possession.
To summarize the XI let’s also take a look at Newcastle’s Kieran Tripper who has had a remarkable season with the third highest grade overall.
